...Kids are excited. (We are) Building a 1/2 scale model of a prairie schooner from heavy duty cardboard. One of my students' parents is in construction so he made us some plywood wheels which the kids painted and some wonderful axle connections. We're going to use old hula hoops for the bands for the canvas cover. This has been a great problem solving lesson--lots of good hands-on math. It is a challenge for the kids--and for the teacher!!
