Dunker Church
The Dunker Church was constructed by local Dunker framers in 1852. On September 14, 1862, as the congregation gathered to worship they could hear the guns of battle nearby. By September 16 the confederate soldiers surrounded the church. The area around the church became a battleground as the Union and Confederate soldiers fought one another. At one point there was a truce between both sides as the church became the backdrop of exchanging soldiers and burying the dead. The church was heavily damaged during the battle. The church was repaired in 1864 and church services resumed.
